How do we Care for our Aging Population in an Everchanging Healthcare System?
Healthcare is a field that is constantly evolving and we are not always in favor of those changes but sadly they are here to stay. With staffing shortages, decreased hospital stays, shorter rehab stays and the driving of out of pocket care costs how does one support their loved one?
You need help. One of the more frequent comments we hear from our clients or their families is we had no idea there was so much to this. We like to approach our clients care as having a short term and a long term plan. When you are hospitalized you are there to be stabilized, a treatment initiated and then you are discharged to the next care level. If you are able to go to skilled nursing for some physical, occupational or speech therapy you will work on getting stronger in your activities of daily living. This will help to prepare you for home with possible care or placement into an Assisted Living/ Memory Care Community or a Nursing Home. While many will improve and get stronger, many will not return to baseline and that is when the patient or their loved ones will need to start looking for some type of care to help them.
Assisted Living communities are as individual as your loved ones care needs. This is where having a senior care advisor will help to identify those special things that need special consideration. Our advisors are real people with experience both professionally and personally. Our advisors know the communities, we are in them often, we talk to the clients and families that we have placed there. We also can assist in recommending additional resources to help your loved one thrive, as well as identify barriers to placement and partner with the hospitals, rehabs, and communities to work around some of those. Our approach is very hands on , caring for your loved one as if they were our own, because honestly at one time we were you, doing this for a family member of our own. We look forward to helping you or your loved one find appropriate care options.
