Cybersecurity Awareness for Seniors – CarePatrol of Vermont

October is officially Cybersecurity Awareness month but Cybercriminals are always active.

Being online is a great way to stay in touch with family, friends, senior groups, physicians and more.  It can also be another way to start a business selling crafts or hobby items.  However, cybercrime has been on the rise across the board and particularly amongst seniors.  Various methods such as phishing and texting scams, calling to impersonate an organization such as a bank or the IRS have been proliferating.  There are many common sense actions that you can take when someone approaches you online or over the phone but there are some great expert pieces of advice out there.  Be aware and diligent in October and throughout the year.
